ART BEND STORY.

In 2016, two passionate artists, Greg and Julian, set out on a journey that would transform not only their lives but also the community of South Bend, Indiana. With nothing more than faith, determination, and a $0 budget, they envisioned creating a space where art could bring people together, inspire creativity, and foster connections.

Their opportunity came when the City of South Bend underwent a major renovation on its west side, revitalizing the streets and creating a fresh canvas for local businesses. As part of the celebration, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was planned, complete with street vendors and family-friendly attractions. Greg and Julian were asked to volunteer, taking charge of transforming an abandoned storefront into a pop-up art gallery for the event.

Armed with only three paint colors—Caution Yellow, Handicapped Blue, and White—and the help of close friends and family, they set to work. The result was nothing short of miraculous. The once-empty space became ART GALLERY 2910, named after its address, and soon filled with artwork from over 30 local and regional artists. The grand opening on July 7th, 2016, was a resounding success, attracting hundreds of locals, including the mayor, and creating a buzz that reverberated throughout the community.

What began as a temporary gallery quickly turned into a permanent fixture in South Bend’s art scene. Encouraged by the overwhelming support, Greg and Julian decided to keep the momentum going, establishing a more permanent studio in downtown South Bend.

In 2023, Gallery 2910 made a significant move to 608 S. Eddy St., South Bend, IN, marking a new chapter in its evolution. This transition inspired the rebranding to Art Bend, reflecting our broader mission to serve the community through art in an even more dynamic and inclusive way.

Today, Art Bend stands as a testament to what can be achieved with faith, creativity, and a supportive community. We’re proud of our roots, grateful for God’s grace, and committed to continuing our mission of bringing people together through the power of art.
